GIVE REASON 1.A GAS EXERTS PRESSURE ON THE WALLS OF THE CONTAINER? 2.WE CAN EASILY MOVE OUR HAND IN AIR BUT TO DO THE SAME THROUGH A SOLID BLOCK OF WOOD WE NEED A KARATE EXPERT? |
ANS: 1)Because the gas particles are moving in the container with a certain velocity and when they bounce off the walls, they exert pressure on them. 2)This is due to the reason that the molecules in the gaseous state are loosely packed though air is gaseous.Thats why we can easily move our hands to air.The molecules are held together by inter molecular forces which is responsible for the strength of the substance and also they provide some resistance. But in the case of wood, the molecules are closely packed and intermolecular forces are very strong which can only be broken by experts. |
