21 is the remainder when x*x*x + 2x*x + kx + 3 is divided by x - 3. Find k.

Let p(x) = x+ 2x2 + kx +3
Given that p(3) = 21
ie, 33+2 × 32 + k × 3 + 3 = 21
27 + 18 + 3k + 3 = 21
3k = 21 - 48
3k = -27
k = -27/3   =-9
