What has been the contribution of Rebindranath Tagore to Indian literature ? |
(a) Rabindranath Tagore was the first Asian writer to in the Nobel Prize for literature. He represents a happy combination of the ancient Indian tradition and the new European consciousness. He got the Nobel Prize for his slim volume of poems entitled 'Gitanjali'. (b) He gave Indian poetry a new type of lyric. In the collection of short stories entitled 'Galpa', he set the pace of the modern short story in India. He novels entitled 'Gora' and 'Ghare Baire' reflect the genius of a supreme novelist. |
