how fan rotate? |
There are two parts in a fan motor rotor and stator. The stator has magnetic poles which generate magnetic flux. This interacts with the coils on the rotor and applies a couple causing the rotation of the rotor. In a table fan, the blades are fixed to the rotor and the movement appears to be clockwise. In a ceiling fan, the blades are fixed to the stator, hence the movement of blades appear to be anti-clockwise. |
