which are the types of crop seasons in india? |
India has three crop seasons.They are:
1. Kharif crops 2. Rabi crops 3. Zaid crops Kharif crops The crops sown at the beginning of the South-west monsoon. that is June- July every year are called kharif crops. These crops are harvested at the end of the same season, that is September, October. The major crops grown in kharif season include rice, jowar, bajra, groundnut, jute, cotton and pulses like moong, urad etc. Rabi crops The crops sown at the beginning of cold season i.e October to December are known as rabi crops. These crops are harvested at the beginning of the warm season, that is March-April. The rabi crops include wheat, gram, barley, potato and some oil seeds like linseed, rapeseed and mustard etc. Zaid crops In between the rabi and the kharif seasons, there is a short season during the summer months known as the Zaid crops.The zaid crops are of two types. They are Zaid kharif crops and Zaid rabi crops. |
