What is our hair made up of ?

It is made up of protein.The fibrous protein emerging from the hair follicle as the hair shaft has a specific construction. It forms a strand with three layers: an outer covering of overlapping keratin scales called the cuticle, a middle layer of keratinized protein fibers called the cortex, and, usually, a central 'core' of round cells called the medulla.our hair is made up of the same type of cells your skin and nails, keratin cells. Each form of these cells is very similar, but varies in thickness and hardness.our hair grows out of follicles in your skin. This is where the nerves, blood supply and nutrients are found.Each hair is made up of two to three layers. The cuticle layer is the outer layer and is made up of small scale like structures. When your cuticle lays flat, your hair is smooth and shiny.
