Q1:what is meant by demand ?
According to Hansen "  By demand we mean the quantity of a commodity that will be purchased at a particular price and not merely the desire of a thing".

Q2:what is meant by shift in demand curve?
If there is an increase in demand at each price level , the demand curve shifts in a rightward direction. If there is a decrease in demand ,it shifts to the left.

Q3:what does a demand curve shows?explain.

The demand curve is the graph depicting the relationship between the price of a certain commodity and the amount of it that consumers are willing and able to purchase at that given price. It is a graphic representation of a demand schedule. The demand curve for all consumers together follows from the demand curve of every individual consumer: the individual demands at each price are added together.

Q4:what is meant by extension of demand ?
It is a situation when the demand of the commodity decreases with the rise in price ,other things being equal.   The extension of demand occurs due to reduction in prices whereas the contraction in demand follows an increase in price.

Q5:what is meant by contraction of demand ?
It is a situation when the demand of the commodity decreases with the rise in price ,other things being equal. The extension of demand occurs due to reduction in prices whereas the contraction in demand follows an increase in price.
