| Grandmaster is a title awarded to world-class chess players by the sport's governing body FIDE. Apart from "World Champion", Grandmaster is the highest title a chess player can attain. Once achieved, the title is held for life. In September 2012 FIDE lists 1380 living Grandmasters. Of these, 1353 are male and 27 are female. In India 32 Grandmasters. |
