If the polynomial x4 -6x3 + 16x2 + 25x + 10 is divided by another polynomial x2-2x+k,the remainder comes out to be x+a,find the value of k and a. ( 5 marks)


Given that 41+2k=1
ie,2k=-40
k = -20
and (2+k)k =a
So a = (2+-20)×-20
        =-18 × -20
        =360
