Why are we dreaming?

Ans :
A  dream includes any of the images, thoughts and emotions that are experienced during sleep.Regarding dreams many theories have been proposed but no single consensus has emerged.
Sigmund Freud proposed a theory that suggested dreams represented our unconscious desires, thoughts, and motivations. we can’t express these thoughts and feelings in real life, they instead find their way into our dreams. In his famous book " The Interpretation of Dreams " that they are disguised fulfillments of wishes.
Another popular theory is  known as the activation-synthesis model of dreaming.  It was proposed by J. Allan Hobson and Robert McCarley.  In this theory, the circuits in the brain are activated during our sleep. It causes areas of the limbic system ie ,emotions, sensations, memories to be come active.  The brain then synthesizes this and tries to find the meaning in the signals ,which will end up with dreaming. This theory suggests that dreams are the results of signals.
