a motorboat starting from rest on a lake accelerates in a straight line at a constant rate of 3.0 s-2 for 8.0 s how far does the boat travel this time?

Initial velocity ,u  =0ms-1
Acceleration ,a   =3.0ms-2
Time taken ,t      =80 s
From the equation of motion ,
distance travelled , s= ut  +  1/2 at2
                               =0ms-1  x  8.0s   +  1/2  x  3.0 ms-2 x (8.0)2
                                =1/2  x  3.0m s-2  x  64s2
                                 =96 m
Hence distance travelled by the boat is 96 m
