The direction of needle in compass changes when it is kept near an electric circuit having electric current flowing through it.Why?

This because of the property of electricity to produce magnetism. The flowing electricity produce magnetic field around it and this magnetic field made the compass needle to change its direction. When we cut off electricity the compass needle shows no deflection. When we pass electricity in opposite direction the compass needle show deflection in opposite direction.
