WHAT ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF METAL DEFECTS?
Following defects are found in metals:
Crystallographic defect
# 1 Point defects: Found in grains of metal's lattice structure
# 2 Line defects
# 3 Planar defects
# 4 Bulk defects:Volume defects divided in to three parts
(a) void (b) crack (c) inclusion of foreign particles
Interstitial defect
# 1 Self-interstitials : Broadly there are two types
1- stochiometric defect and
2- non-stochiometric defects
stochiometric defects include
1-schottky defect-due to missing of ions from lattice point in pairs
2-frenkel defects-it is caused due to the creation of lattice vacancy as a result of misplaced ion in interstitial site. It is common in solid with high co-ordination number.

Casting defect
* 1 Shrinkage defects
* 2 Gas porosity
* 3 Pouring metal defects
* 4 Metallurgical defect
