what is colonisation

Colonisation means establishment, exploitation, maintenance, acquisition and expansion of colonies in one territory by people from another territory. It can be defined as "the policy and practice of a power in extending control over weaker people or areas." The British colonized the Indian subcontinent between 1858 and 1947. The term can also refer to the period of dominion.

British colonisation in India resulted in poverty and economical destruction of India. They plundered the wealth of India.
