give reasons for the following: a) the particles of a soild have the strongest intermolecular forces. b) hot potter kept in a plate cools down faster than when kept in a glass.
(a)  Solids do not flow ,are rigid and have definite shape and volume.Their inter particle space between the particles is minimum and the kinetic energy of  molecules  is least.  In solids , particles are closely packed and can only vibrate about their mean positions and so the inter particle attraction between the particles is maximum.
 
(b) Check the second part of the question .
