If, initial velocity = 8m/s final velocity = 2m/s displacement = 9m then what is the acceleration ?

We have,
                u=8m/s
                v=2m/s
                 s=9m
                 a=?
     v2 -u2 =2as
            a=(v2 -u2 )/2s
            a= -3.3m/s2
Negative sign shows that there is retardation .
