the weight of a body is maximum at poles and minimum at equator on the surface of earth. why |
Weight of the body is the amount of force by which earth attracts that particular body 'towards its center'. If the body is placed at the center of the earth, its weight is zero but its mass is not zero. Also, if the body is placed at a distance ''R'' from the center of the earth, then the weight of the body is maximum if ''R" is the radius of earth. In a nut-shell, if the body is placed at the surface of earth, its weight is maximum and its mass is same as before. |
