why 60% of india's population is still illeterate ?
The following reasons are responsible for illiteracy :-
1.Poverty
2.Poor Government schemes.
3.Lack of schools in rural areas(70 percent of Indians live in rural areas)
4.In remote areas, Parents don't send girls to school
5.Child marriages
6.The biggest of them all...corruption...politicians deposit the money which is supposed to be spend on schools in their own account

There is huge difference between in rural and urban India.
Someone have said That Real India exists in rural areas, so in order to develop India, rural area's should be developed which is not being done.most of people there don't have electricity, Internet and other basic things.
