How to divide a number having decimals for both denominator and numerator ? Kindly explain with an example. |
Consider a rational number p/q If p and q are decimals, multiply p and q both by one of the multiple of 10 so as to convert it into integer values. then solve as usual. For eg: Consider 32.44/2.6 32.44/2.6 = (32.44×100)/(2.6×100) = 3244/260 = 1622/130 (divide numerator and numerator by 2) = 811/65 (further simplification is not possible since 811 is a prime) converting into decimal, 811/65 = 12.4769 |
