Merits of Non Democracy 1. Stability of Government - Since the authoritative powers are vested in indivudals, stability of government is possible. Decisions regarding the governance of the country or state can be done easily. There will be no political warfare or inner party turmoil. 2. Provides efficient and prompt administration - A single individual as a ruler will take decisions in the best interests of the people. Demerits 1. Loss of freedom of choice - There will be no freedom of choice in a non democratic government. The citizens cannot choose their leader through elections. 2. The government will have absolute power - As the government is not an elected representative of the citizens, the absolute governing power is vested in an individual. The government will take all the decisions and it will be regarded as final. 3. The people may be oppressed by the governance as the government would be intent on keeping their power away from the citizens. |
