WHAT IS UNITARY METHOD

The unitary method is a technique in elementary algebra for solving a class of problems in variation. It consists of altering one of the variables to a single unit.

For example:

If the cost of 5 pencils is Rs.50. What is the cost of 7 pencils?

Solution:
First find the cost of 1 pencil.
Cost of 1 pencil = 50 / 5 = Rs.10
So cost of 7 pencils = Rs.10 x 7 = Rs.70
