what type of quantity is magnitude? is it vector or scalar?

Magnitude is just the measurement without direction. So it is a scalar quantity.Vector quantities have both magnitude and direction. For example, speed is a scalar quantity but velocity is a vector quantity. If you are going forward at 30 mph, then your speed is 30mph and your velocity is 30mph. But if you go backwards at 30mph, your speed is still 30mph but your velocity is -30mph.
