A man was driving his car suddenly, he saw a cat infront of his car he apply the break which produced an acceleration of 6m/s in a direction opposite to that of motion still his car took 2second to stop can you tell how much distance the car travelled during this time

a = - 6m/s2 ,  t = 2s, S = ?, v=0,

 v = u + at

i.e.,  0 = u + (-6m/s2 ) × 2s

i.e.,   u = 12m/s

       v2 = u2 + 2aS

              i.e., 0 = u2 + 2 (-6m/s2 ) S

                        =144m2/s2 + ( -12m/s2 ) × S

              i.e., 12m/s× S = 144m2/s2

                                   S  = 144m2/s2 ÷ 12m/s2 = 12m

 Therefore the distance travelled = 12m
