Ask a Teacher

what is the difference between fraction and rational numbers?

A rational number is a number that can be in the form p/q
where p and q are integers and q is not equal to zero.

A fraction represents a part of a whole or,more generally,
any number of equal parts. A fraction describes how many
parts of a certain size there are,
for example, one-half, five-eighths, three-quarters.
