sodium chloride contains two elements, but it is still a pure substance.please assign reasons.
Sodium chloride is a compound because it decomposes into simpler substances ,where as sodium and chlorine cannot be further decomposed into any substance as they are elements.
It has same composition,boiling point,melting point and also appears same at anywhere so sodium chloride is considered as a pure substance .
