How does tears roll from our eyes when we really sad or happy?

Tears come out from our eyes mainly when we are sad. That happens because one area of our brains, called limbic system, passes this sadness information on until it gets to the structure that makes tears – the lachrymal gland. This gland is a little bag formed of cells that produce tears and are located very close to our eyes. The tears are not produced always because there’s a little duct, a kind of straw, that connects our eyes to our noses, and the tears normally flow through this channel and go straight to our throat. When we’re sad, we produce more tears than what this little channel can take and they end up pouring down, and then we cry.
