What is the real meaning of density?

Density is defined as an object's mass per unit volume. Mass is a property.
 The density can be expressed as

    ? = m / V = 1 / vg

    where

    ? = density (kg/m3)

    m = mass (kg)

    V = volume (m3)

    vg = specific volume (m3/kg)
