how does the computer mouse work?

The computer mouse has sensors that detect motion. It also has various buttons and possibly a wheel.Every time something changes, such as moving the mouse or changing the state of a button, the mouse sends a message to the computer indicating the status of the buttons and how far the mouse has moved since the last message. The mouse driver in the computer is responsible for translating between mouse steps (mickies) and computer steps (pixels) and for determining how fast the mouse is moving. The driver often has adjustable acceleration curves that allow you to move rapidly and cover a great distance versus moving slowly and having great precision.
