Who were the marathas?
The Marathas are an Indian warrior caste, found predominantly in the state of Maharashtra. The term Maratha within the Marathi-speaking region describes the dominant Maratha caste; and historically, it describes the Maratha Empire founded by Shivaji in the seventeenth century.
