WHY NEWTON'S FIRST LAW OF MOTION IS ALSO CALLED INETIA

Whether an object is moving or not, it resists any change to its motion. Galileo's concept of the resistance to a change in motion is called inertia. Inertia is the tendency of an object to resist a change in motion. Newton's first law of motion is 'Everybody continues in the state of rest or a uniform motion in a straight line unless it is acted upon by external force'.So it means that if the body is initially in motion then it will be in uniform motion till another force is applied which exhibits the inherent property inertia of the body.So it is also called law of inertia.
