health tourism advantages and disadvantages? |
The practice of medical tourism continues to gain popularity and social acceptance, certain potentially controversial aspects are discussed. And while it continues to grow in medical systems across the world and is embraced by many consumers there are still certain advantages and disadvantages that are associated with it. It is in everyone’s best interest to research the medical practices and laws of a particular country before engaging in services with it. Some of the greatest benefits associated with medical tourism are obvious. Reduced costs are a frequent aspect and having the opportunity to visit a new country is appealing to most people. Some of the potential disadvantages associated with medical tourism include the occasional need for a malpractice lawsuit. There is typically a malpractice law associated with medical tourism in most countries, but following up with a suit can be difficult and lacks any guarantees. Post operative and follow up treatment can be a concern when you’ve returned to your own country after a procedure. And a variation in insurance laws and policy can also be a problem for coverage in certain places and for some treatments. |
