explain the functions with examples |
A one-one mapping means that original equation is a function and the inverse is also a function. So for example, y = x3 is one-one because the inverse (y = cubed root of x) is also a function y = x2 is not one-one because the inverse (y = +- sqrt(x)) is not a function A function means that there is only one y value for every x value. So the value x = 2 cannot have an answer of y = 2 and y = -2. It can only have one answer y = 2. |
