What is LNG and GHG?

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled to the point that it condenses to a liquid,which occurs at a temperature of approximately -2560F (-1610 c) at atmospheric pressure.


LNG is odourless, colourless, non-corrosive, nonflammable, and non-toxic. Natural gas in our home may have been liquefied at some point but was converted into its vapour form for our use. The reason the natural gas we use in our home has a smell is because an odorising substance is added to natural gas before it is sent into the distribution grid. This odour enables gas leaks to be detected more easily.

  Green House Gas(GHG)   is a gas in an atmosphere that absorbs and emits radiation within the thermal infrared range.  

There are ten primary GHGs; of these, water vapor  (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) are naturally occurring. Perfluorocarbons (CH4, C2F6), hydrofluorocarbons 

(CHF3, CF3CH2F, CH3CHF2), and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), are only present in the atmosphere due to industrial processes.

 Water vapor is the most abundant and dominant GHG in the atmosphere. Its concentration depends on temperature and other meteorological conditions, and not directly upon human activities.

CO2 is the primary anthropogenic greenhouse gas, accounting for 77% of the human contribution to the greenhouse effect in 2004.
