what is metaphase and prophase
During prophase, the chromosomes coil and the nuclear membrane disintegrates. The spindle apparatus also forms during this phase. During metaphase, the chromosomes become aligned. In the prophase, the chromosomes are seen as intact, compact structures. In the metaphase, the chromosomes align in the equatorial region of the spindle.
