Static friction is the friction that exists between two or several solid entities that are not moving relative to one another. For instance, static friction can put off an object from slipping down a sloped surface.For example, if you have a box on the ground that isn't moving, there is static friction that keeps the box there until you push/pull the box with a certain amount of force.
