nitrogen cannot form penta halides give reason |
Nitrogen is a 2nd period element and its a chemical sin to put more than
8 valence electrons around nitrogen as there are only four orbitals
(s.p.p.p) available in the 2nd energy level. Excitation to 3 level is "impossible". The inner core of 1s can not be disturbed. Pentahalides would essentially put 10 electrons around N and hence not possible. |
