WHO IS ZAMANDARS?
A zamindar was an aristocrat, who held enormous tracts of land and held control over his peasants, from whom they collected tax. Revenue was collected in cash with great strictness from all zamindars. These people lent money to revenue farmers, received land as security and collected taxes from these lands through their own
agents.
