 If hour hand stayed on 5:
There would be 25 minutes between the two hands.
Determine the degrees between two hands:
(25 min)(6° per min) = 1500
Hour hand moves during the hour from 5:00 to 5:50:
(50min)( 1?2 ° per min) = 25°
 Since the hour hand moved toward the minute hand, the angle is smaller:
150° - 25° = 125° between the hands at 5:50
