42) Two resistors of resistance 2? and 4? are connect i) in series and ii) parallel to a given battery for same interval.Compute the ratio of the total quantity of heat produced in the combination in the 2 to cases.

Total resistance in series combination 

R = 2+2 = 4 ohm
heat produced according to Joule's law ,

H1= I2Rt = 4I2t 

Total resistance in parallel combination ,
 R = 2*2/2+2 = 1 ohm

heat produced .
H2 = I2t
The ratio ,
H1 : H2 =  4:1
