Oxygen is a chemical element that has the atomic number 8 and is represented by the symbol O. At standard temperature and pressure, oxygen exists as a diatomic molecule gas which is pale blue, odourless and tasteless. Oxygen is a highly reactive non-metallic element that readily forms compound with other elements.
