What is meant by aerosol and sol?

An aerosol is a colloid which can be defined as a system of solid or liquid particles suspended in air or other gaseous environment.eg:smoke or fog

A sol is a colloidal suspension of very small solid particles in a continuous liquid medium. They are quite stable and show the Tyndall effect. eg: blood, pigmented ink, and paint.
