WHY DOES WATER PUT OUT FIRE? |
Fire requires heat, oxygen, and fuel to burn. With the absence of any of these three things, fire cannot burn. When applying water to fire, the heat of the fire is taken away. The water which is a liquid, becomes vapor or steam when put on a fire .When applying water to a fire, it also many times takes out the majority of the oxygen from the fire, effectively smothering it out.The oxygen in water is bound to the hydrogen and isn't free to bind to the fuel. |
