HOW DOES WATER EVAPORATE, CONDENSE ,FREEZE AND MELT

  • Evaporation is a type of vaporization of a liquid that occurs from the surface of a liquid into a gaseous phase that is not saturated with the evaporating substance.
  • Condensation is the change of the physical state of matter from gas phase into liquid phase, and is the reverse of vaporization. It can also be defined as the change in the state of water vapor to water/any liquid when in contact with any surface.
  • Freezing or solidification is a phase transition in which a liquid turns into a solid when its temperature is lowered below its freezing point.
  • Melting is a solid becoming liquid. The melting point (or, rarely, liquefaction point) of a solid is the temperature at which it changes state from solid to liquid at atmospheric pressure.
