what are the environmental consequences of of increasing demand for energy ? what steps would you suggest to reduce energy consumption ?
The energy demand is increasing day by day and it causes imbalance in the ecological systems in rapid manner. Some of the important issues occur due to the energy consumption in a large scale are are discussed below ,
 The burning of fossil fuels causes air pollution and releases large amount of carbon dioxide, results in global warming.
 The thermal power station burns large amount fossil fuels which emit harmful gases and pollute the environment.
 The energy production by nuclear stations results in the formation of non biodegradable radioactive waste products.
Climate change is likely to both increase electricity demand for cooling in the summer and decrease electricity, natural gas, heating oil, and demand for wood heating in the winter. It  could affect the amount of water available to produce electricity or extract fuel. In areas where water is already scarce, competition for water between energy production and other uses could increase.

                                                 To maintain a balanced system , we should use these resources in optimum, Avoid wastage of energy  the energy. Maximize the use of an alternate source of energy such as solar energy, Tidal energy , Wind energy etc.
