What is sun synchronous satellites? |
Sun-Synchronous Satellite (Geocentric Satellite) is one of the satellites that moves around the earth and always get its power source from the sun. A geocentric orbit is one which combines altitude and inclination in such a way that an object on that orbit ascends or descends over any given Earth latitude at the same local mean solar time. Because it always keep moving on, in 24 hours the satellite will pass few countries at the same local solar system. A satellite in sun-synchronous orbit might ascend across the equator twelve times a day each time at approximately 15:00 mean local time. Sun-synchronous satellites are mostly used for the military and remote sensing purposes. |
