what is thalamus?

Thalamus is the relay centre of the brain.
The thalamus is on top of the brainstem and is the main router for sensory information to high cerebral processes, as well as receiving and sending motor response.

The thalamus plays a critical role in motor function, consciousness, and the level of alertness in humans.
