who us C.G.Balbiani ?
Special types of chromosomes are found in certain eukaryotic cells and these chromosomes similar to their name are found to be different from the other chromosomes and are present in certain specialized cells. They are found to be very large in size and hence they are also called giant chromosomes.they are of two types. They are Polytene chromosomes and Lamp brush chromosomes.

The polytene chromosome was first discovered by C.G.Balbiani in the year 1881 in the salivary glands of the species drosophila. Hence, these chromosomes are also called salivary gland chromosomes.
