State method by which we can prepare colloid of starch. |
Colloidal system consists of finely divided particles of any substance dispersed in any medium. The particles are called dispersed phase the medium is called dispersed medium. Both constitute the colloidal system. In colloidal systems, where solid is dispersed in a liquid are frequently referred as Sol. If the dispersion medium is water, it is named as Hydrosol. Depending upon the nature of the dispersed phase and dispersed medium, colloidal solution can be classified as lyophilic (liquid loving) and lyophobic (liquid - hating). Colloid of starch belongs to lyophilic colloids. Lyophilic colloids can be prepared by Direct mixing. The substance starch passes readily into water to give colloidal solution. They are reversible in nature, can be precipitated and directly converted into colloidal state. |
