who were mughals?

The Mughal Dynasty was the last great empire of Indian history. It was the dominant power in the Indian subcontinent between the mid-16th century and the early 18th century. This dynasty was founded by Babur (Babur was related to the great Mongol conqueror, Chengiz Khan on his mother's side and the Turkish invader Timuron his father's side. )in  1856 by defeating the Delhi Sultan Ibrahim Shah Lodi at the First Battle of Panipat. Akbar the Great, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb were prominent amoung the Mughal Emperors.Even though the successors of  Aurangzeb were weak ,the dynasty officially survived until 1858.
