How can I prove that every line segment has one and only one mid-point

Consider, a line segment AB as shown, Let c and d be its 2 midpoints

a___________c_d___________b

We know that a midpoint divides the line segment into 2 equal parts

So , ac=ad

But this is only possible if c corresponds to d or ac =ad

That implies our supposition was wrong,

a line segment can have only 1 mid point.

Hence, proved
